A number of new developments have either recently opened in and around the city or will be hitting the market soon. Here is a look at a few of the newer options that you might want to consider when looking for a place to live in New York City.
The Eugene
Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with interiors done by Roman & Williams, The Eugene is a 62-story rental in Brookfield’s Manhattan West development that will feature a high-end La Palestra gym, a 4,000-square-foot roof deck on the top floor and a ground-level terrace connecting it to Two Manhattan West. The Eugene is located at 435 W 31st Street.
325 Kent Avenue
Following the approval of the Domino Sugar Refinery redevelopment, the Williamsburg megaproject development began. The first building to be developed is the waterfront development of 325 Kent Avenue. Offering 104 affordable units, for which 87,000 people applied, the development will also offer market-rate units developed by Two Trees.
The Hub
Located in Downtown Brooklyn, the 56-story tower known as the Hub will be the tallest building in the borough upon completion. Developed by Douglas Steiner, the development will be 610 feet tall with 750 apartments and 32,000 square feet of retail space. 150 of the units within the development, which is located at 333 Schermerhorn Street, will be affordable.
Park and Shore
Developed by Strategic Capital, the two ultra-luxury condo buildings known as Park and Shore offer 429 apartments by the waterfront. The first of these towers, 75 Park Lane, will boast 358 apartments ranging from studios to three-bedrooms in a 37-story building. Shore House, which will be adjacent to 75 Park Lane, will have just 71 one- and two-bedroom apartments.
49 Chambers Street
With apartments beginning at just under $2 million, the landmarked Beaux Art building at 49 Chambers Street is being converted to a condo building. After purchasing the property from the city in 2013, developer Chetrit Group brought Woods Bagotto on board to assist with the restoration process. Once completed, the 17-story building will feature 99 one- to three-bedroom condos offering at least 1,000 square feet of space. Many of the units will also boast treetop views of City Hall Park.
Common Kingston
Offered through a partnership between co-living startup Common and real estate firm Adam America, Common Kingston in Crown Heights offers shared apartments beginning at $1,600 per month. Located at 1509 Pacific Street in a red brick building, the development has space for 21 residents and features a common dining room.
American Copper Buildings
Designed by SHoP Architects and JDS Development, American Copper Buildings offer waterfront living on the East River. Situated in twisty towers, studios start at around $3,000 per month. Other than its distinct copper exterior, this development also features a skybridge connecting the two towers and boasting a lounge, a bar, a 75-foot lap pool, a kids’ playroom and a hammam. The development is located at 626 1st Avenue.
