Celebrity Real Estate Transactions in NY

A number of celebrity real estate transactions are taking place in NYC. Here is a look at just a few.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen Put Flatiron District Mansion on the Market

After purchasing a full-floor unit within Flatiron District’s One Madison condo building in 2014, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen are once again trying to sell the property.

According to reports, the celebrity couple originally purchased the property for $11.7 million. Two years later, they put the property back on the market for $17.25 million. After failing to sell the property, the couple took it back off the market and has recently put it back on the market at a reduced asking price of $13.95 million

Situated on the 48th floor of the building, the four-bedroom unit offers more than 3,300 square feet of living space. Designed by architect Peter Marino, the unit boasts floor-to-ceiling windows that line the walls and offer stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and the Empire State Building.

The couple also purchased a five-bedroom condo at 70 Vestry in 2016 for around $20 million before upgrading to a more expensive unit within the same building in April the following year.

Saudi Prince to Purchase Plaza Hotel

Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp. and Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal are reportedly purchasing the Plaza Hotel for $600 million, with the deal expected to close this summer. This news comes after a long and complicated battle amongst various groups that have been interested in purchasing the property.

Originally opened in 1907, the Plaza Hotel has had many different owners over the years. These include Donald Trump, the Hilton Group and the El-Ad Group, the latter of which purchased the hotel in 2004 and converted 100 of the hotel rooms into condos. The property was later purchased by the Sahara Group in 2012 for $575 million. In May of last year, the Saudi prince had expressed an interest in purchasing the property, but the deal initially fell through. While the deal has yet to be finalized, it looks promising that it may finally have found a new owner with Al-Waleed Bin Talal.

Antonion Banderas Lists Central Park Co-Op

Actor Antonio Banderas has placed his four-bedroom, four=bathroom Central Park West home on the market for $7.95 million. Part of the Upper West Side Beaux Arts building known as Prasada, the unit is one of just 40 apartments located within the 12-story building. This unit in particular is a combination of two units.

Banderas and his now ex-wife actress Melanie Griffith originally purchased the property in 2005 for just under $4 million. Some of the home’s features include a formal dining room, 50 feet of windows overlooking Central Park in the living room, built-in window sitting in both the living and dining rooms, a decorative fireplace in the living room, stainless steel appliances, beamed ceilings and en-suite bathrooms included in three of the bedrooms. The actor has reportedly put the house in the market because he wants to move to the west coast in order to be closer to his family.
