Men's Health Urbanathon: In 2014, Men’s Health is returning with our 9th annual URBANATHLON series, celebrating the Men’s Health work hard, play hard mentality. The URBANATHLON challenges competitors—or more accurately, flat-out dares them—to set new personal standards for what it means to be fit. Whether you are taking on the classic distance or all NEW sprint distance course, the URBANATHLON is the ultimate test of endurance, strength, mobility and pure toughness. Post race, the excitement continues at the Men’s Health URBANATHLON Festival, with DJ sets, food and drink, and tons of stuff from our sponsors to demo, sample, and take home. Packet pick up will be held on Thursday, October 23rd and Friday, October 24th at City Sports. Participants will receive their bib assignments, pick up their official racer T-shirt, receive race day info guides and have the opportunity to purchase Official 2014 Men’s Health URBANATHLON gear. All participants will be required to present valid photo identification to retrieve their race packet. The Zombie Run New York City: The Zombie Run is an awesomely terrifying obstacle course through a zombie-infested wasteland. If you thought jogging through the zombie apocalypse was enough of an adventure, try dodging that army of brain-thirsty undead while scrambling through a series of rugged obstacles as well! Do you have what it takes to survive? During The Zombie Run Human Participants start out in the quarantined area of their home base, but must navigate their way through a landscape of nightmares, chaos, and suspense in order to reach the fortified stronghold at the finish line. With roughly 3 miles (45 minutes) between the start line and salvation, our course is filled with rugged obstacles, apocalypse-themed zones, desolate landscapes, and packs of ravenous Zombies. Then Humans and Zombies set aside their differences to share a cold beer and their best dance moves at the post-apocalypse afterparty. October 25. $45 (day of, $70).
Tour De Bronx: Join nearly 6,000 cyclists as they hit the road on Sunday, October 26th for the 20th Annual Tour de Bronx, the largest free cycling event in New York State. With a choice of either a 25 or 40-mile course through the borough’s 61 neighborhoods, there will be fun for families, casual riders and avid bicyclists. Men and women of all ages as well as children participate in this annual event. Every year local, national and even international visitors make their way to the Bronx just to be a part of the “Big Bronx Ride!” Men and women of all ages as well as children participate in this annual event. Every year local, national and even international visitors make their way to the Bronx just to be a part of the “Big Bronx Ride!” Presented by the Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. and Transportation Alternatives and produced by the Bronx Tourism Council, the Tour de Bronx promotes bicycling and pedestrian environmentally-friendly methods of travel. The tour starts at the Bronx County Building at Grand Concourse & 161st Street and ends with a music festival at the New York Botanical Garden. All Riders must check-in on the morning of the tour.
