Grab the Kids and Head to the Tribeca Family Festival on April 25

The Tribeca Family Festival is back on April 25! This event is the ultimate street fair and family celebration, where a dazzling array of free activities, performances and experiences unfold downtown in Tribeca. Here’s a sampling of what you can enjoy at the festival:

TRIBECA FOOD FEAST, hosted by 60 Hudson, will offer Festivalgoers a chance to watch neighborhood chefs create their signature dishes in a chef’s kitchen designed especially for the Street Fair. The show kitchen stage will be the featured centerpiece of the Tribeca Food Feast, an area at the Street Fair that will feature local restaurants and establishments along with select specialty food vendors, including NYC Food Trucks, from around the New York City area. Throughout the day at the Family Festival Street Fair, a line-up of unique local and NYC restaurants will be spotlighted in featured segments on a “show kitchen” stage.  After being introduced to the audience by the host team, each featured establishment will prepare and present a house specialty to the crowd, and share cooking “secrets” of their unique menu offerings.  Each presentation will include a tasting experience for a limited number of participants, and each featured restaurant will distribute menus and recipes and offer premiums to encourage diners to patronize their establishment.

TRIBECA STUDIOS BACKLOT: The Tribeca Studios Backlot will bring a neighborhood street to life with all of the classic elements of filmmaking on location in New York City: lights, cameras, and ACTION. Unlike the “closed set” status of most film location shoots, this experience is open to all to learn, experience, and enjoy the wide range of elements that go into creating a film production

GAMES FOR CHANGE PUBLIC ARCADE: The Games for Change Public Arcade, supported by Zynga.org, will take place on Jay St. (between Greenwich St. & Hudson St.), a full city block of great games, both digital and physical. The G4C Arcade celebrates the positive power of play: these games are not only fun, they are also ‘games for good’ – designed for learning, health, and social impact. Among the games to play will be an educational version of the blockbuster hit game Words With Friends, and the NY premiere of The Go Game’s Zombie Apocalypse Disaster Preparedness Game, where participants can learn practical survival skills while escaping real-world ‘zombies.’ Other offerings include learning games from the SF-based Co.lab incubator, NA3M Games, Global Gaming Initiative, and, in G4C’s Indie Booth, games from Elevator Productions, Lamplight Forest and American University’s Games Lab. Live physical games from Come Out & Play will also be on hand. The G4C Arcade is part of the 12th annual Games for Change Festival, New York City’s largest gaming event.

The festival stages will feature special performances from current Broadway shows along with emerging talent from in Tribeca. Local restaurants, schools, merchants, and organizations will offer Tribeca’s finest foods, refreshments, activities and merchandise. Families can also attend free screenings. In addition to all of this, event-goers can fly a kite, create life-size bubbles in the Bubble Garden, get creative in the Arts & Crafts pavilions, dance to live music, and put a smile on your face. It’s time to take to the streets of the neighborhood, so mark your calendar for this special day of fun!
