Head to the Big Apple Block Party on June 13-14 at Madison Square Park

The Big Apple Barbecue Block Party is a celebration of the craftsmanship of ‘cue, represented by the most talented pitmasters in the country. Each one brings their signature approach to the tradition of ‘cue to New Yorkers the second weekend in June in Madison Square Park.

Entering its 13th year this June, the celebration features all the elements of real pit barbecue – from the heady smells of smoked meat and the rollicking sounds of the South, to an abundance of charm, handcrafted ingredients and spirits.

This year’s 13th Annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party takes place on Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14 from 11:00am to 6:00 p.m. daily.

Enjoy free admission, plus award-winning barbecue and Southern-inspired fare from expert barbecue connoisseurs. Want to live it up? Go VIP with the BigPiggin’ pass for more smokin’ hot perks.

A pitmaster is a barbecue authority who cooks up mouthwatering ‘cue (AKA: a boss). At the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, you’ll have the opportunity to sample barbecue from the nation’s top, award-winning pitmasters hailing from ‘cue capitals like Texas, the Carolinas, Alabama, Tennessee, and more.

Getting there is easy. Whether you’re walking, biking, or coming by subway, the options are endless. The closest subway stops are 6 to 28th or 23rd streets, N/R to 23rd street. Like every good BBQ, the event is rain or shine — c’mon, you’re a New Yorker. You’re built for this.

BBQ is best enjoyed with a refreshing beverage! Visit one of the Park Beverage Gardens located around the South or North Fountains in the Park, or the newest Lounge In The Street on 25th Street and Madison. Don’t forget your ID to enjoy 21+ libations. It’s a park! Children and dogs are welcome, bring the family, spread a blanket on the main lawn, and enjoy one of the best weekends of the year in Madison Square Park. Everyone needs a little sugar after BBQ. For the sweetest ending to your day, visit one of the outstanding bakeries coming to the party. Sugaree’s and Robicelli’s Bakeries will be serving their signature sweets.
