It is no secret that New York City is a popular place for celebrities to purchase a home. Not only is New York City one of the influential cities in the world of media, television, movies and music, but it is also a great place to call home. To that end, here is some of the celebrity real estate news that has hit the city recently.

Upper East Side Home Owned by Henry Found Sells for $9.9 Million

A 6,000-square-foot 19th-century home that was one part of the Roosevelt family and that was owned by the late Henry Fonda has sold for $9.9 million. Originally listed for A$11.225 million, the landmark Upper East Side townhouse was built in 1878 by architect John B. Snook. It didn’t get listed as a New York City landmark until 2011.

Boasting a red-brick exterior that reflects its 19th-century origins, the five-story home has been tastefully renovated inside. Features include eight bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, an assortment of fireplaces, numerous windows, a chef’s kitchen and a terrace.

In addition to being previously owned by Henry Fonda, the townhouse was also once the home of Captain Kermit Roosevelt, who was the son of President Theodore Roosevelt. The property was sold to an unidentified New York City real estate developer.

Kelsey Grammer Joins Neighbor in Attempt to Sell Apartment

After listing his 3,076-square-foot apartment within Jean Nouvel’s 100 Eleventh Avenue  for $9.75 million in April, actor Kelsey Grammer has had no luck with getting the property to sell. Interestingly, neighbor Larry Mueller, who is the CEO of a software supply company, put his apartment on the market at around the same time and has also had little luck in getting it sold. As such, the two have paired up ad are offering the two apartments as a full-floor combination apartment for $19.6 million.

The new combination listing offers a total of four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms within a 5,750-square-foot space. Other features include 11-foot ceilings, gas-burning fireplaces, en-suite baths and floor-to-ceiling windows. The apartment also offers 360-degree views of nearly every major landmark in the city, including the Empire State Building, the Hudson River, the High Line, Freedom Tower and more.

Matt Damon Considering Purchase of Brooklyn Mansion

Actor Matt Damon and his wife have reportedly been considering the purchase of a 159-year-old Low Mansion located on Pierrepoint Street in Brooklyn Heights.  Boasting more than 17,000-square-feeet of living space, the massive mansion is currently the most expensive home for sale in Brooklyn.

The mansion is currently split into eight apartments, but will be vacant whenever it changes hands to a new owner. As such, it can be easily reconfigured to however the new owner pleases. Altogether, the home has a total of 15 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms along with 9,000 square feet of outdoor space. Other features include boasting the original grand staircase, a roof deck and a number of historic details.

The mansion has been on the market since February 2015, at which time the owner was asking $40 million. Despite the long time it has spent on the market, the price has not been reduced since then.
