New Residential Developments Underway in NYC

New Residential Developments Underway in NYC

If you are looking for a place to call home in New York City, there are several new developments that are currently under way throughout the city. Here is a look at just a few of the developments that are either just getting started or are back on their way toward completion.

Hell’s Kitchen Car Dealership May Become 12-Story Condo

A Hell’s Kitchen Lexus car dealership located at the intersection of Eleventh Avenue and West 47th Street may soon be replaced by a 12-story condo building. Currently, development consortium CBSK Ironstate is in a contract to purchase the site for $93 million, a deal it homes to close by next month. Once the sale is final, the developer has plans to submit plans for a 12-story condo building with 225 apartments.

The two-story dealership that is currently located on the property will be demolished to make room for the new condo building. Once the new building is complete, the developers hope to offer the ground floor and basement levels back to Lexus.

East Harlem Tower to Bring 400 Apartments to the Area

A long-stalled redevelopment at 201 East 125th Street may finally be picking up speed once more. With plans to build on a parcel of land owned by that city, all of which is part of a larger redevelopment of East 125th Street, the building will rise 19 stories and boast more than 400 apartments.

Once part of what was known as the East Harlem Media, Entertainment, and Cultural Center, the building in question was originally developed by a consortium named East Harlem Redevelopment LLC. Since then, the property and its redevelopment has faced a number of issues, including bankruptcy and construction delays. Despite objections from local business owners, the city was successful in its move for eminent domain, which it began in 2014. By late 2015, the city issued an RFP for commercial space on the site.

According to the DOB filing, S9 Architecture will be the architect for the project. Once complete, the entire project is expected to have nearly 800 affordable apartments along with community and retail spaces. The building at 201 East 125th Street will have 404 apartments as well as car and bike parking, nearly 61,000 square feet of retail space, a dedicated community facility and some sort of outdoor communal space.

Mixed-Use Building Coming to Long Island City

A 355-foot mixed-use development is in the works for a vacant site at 29-00 Northern Boulevard in Long Island City, located just one block away from the E, M, and R trains at the Queens Plaza subway station. Being developed by Zand Development LLC, the building will offer 82 apartments on the upper floors with retail space on the ground, second and third floors. The fourth floor will house the building’s amenities, including bike storage. In all, the building will span roughly 65,710 square feet with the 82 apartments averaging around 678 square feet each. The range of the apartment sizes has not yet been publicized.
