Construction Continues on 53W53

Destined to top out at 1,050 feet tall and house 145 condos, the tower known as 53W53 continues to move toward completion. With a completion date of sometime in 2018, it know measures a couple dozen stories high. Started at the end of 2014 and with sales launched in September 2015, the available condos range in price from $3.1 million for a one-bedroom to up to $50.75 for a four-bedroom offering nearly 7,000-square-feet of living space.

Tribeca Complex Nears Completion

Started in 2014, HFZ Capital Group’s office-to-condo conversion in Tribeca is nearing completion. Measuring 10 stories tall and offering 27 condos, most of which are loft-style apartments, the BKSK Architects-designed building is located at 11 Beach Street. The development also offers two penthouses and three triplex townhouses. Sales began in September 2014 with prices starting at $5.3 million for a three-bedroom apartment. Nearly a dozen apartments have sold so far, with the prices of available units ranging from $8.55 million for a five-bedroom, four-bathroom unit to $22.5 million for one of the two penthouses.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tribeca Loft Back on the Market

Gwyneth Paltrwo has recently placed her Tribeca loft back on the market with an asking price of $9.95 million. Offering nearly 4,000-square-feet of living space, the loft was originally put on the market for $14.25 million. Located on Greenwich Street, the apartment was originally purchased by the actress and her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, in 2007 for $5.1 million. Since purchasing the property, Paltrow has reportedly had a significant amount of interior work done to the place. This included a total stripdown to stud and redesign, custom decoration and the addition of luxury amenities.

Boutique Condo in Soho Tops Out

Following a lengthy approval process, a boutique condo in Soho’s historic Cast Iron district is nearly complete after topping out at eight stories. Located at 150 Wooster Street, the condo is nearly a decade in the making.  Completion of the project was further stalled in 2015 when the Landmarks Preservation Commission did not approve an earlier design. After following the commission’s requests for more detailed windows, better resolution of the cornice and more steel integrated at the base, the project was approved. Once complete, it will boast six apartments, five of which will be full-floor residences, and a duplex penthouse at the top. Most of the apartments will offer private spaces, while two retail spaces measuring 5,000 square feet each will be located at the base level of the building.

Trevor Noah Upgrades from Rental

“Daily Show” host Trevor Noah has reportedly upgraded from his $15,000 per month apartment by simply moving up a few floors in the same building. Instead of staying in a two-bedroom rental apartment, he is now the owner of a $10 million duplex in the Stella Tower in Hell’s Kitchen. The new place offers three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms within 3,600-square-feet of living space.
