Celebrating its 36th year in 2016, The Photography Show | presented by AIPAD will be held in Manhattan’s Upper East Side at the Park Avenue Armory from April 14-17.

With more than 80 of the world’s leading photography art galleries exhibiting, The Photography Show kicks off with an exclusive preview of the Show floor during the Opening Night Preview on Wednesday, April 13.

The AIPAD Opening Night Preview is the inaugural event of each Show, providing an exclusive viewing of the Show floor, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres.

The AIPAD Public Program will be held on Saturday, April 16 and will include informative discussion sessions that feature prominent leaders in the world of fine art photography. Each session is no more than two hours in length and discussion questions are welcome. Admission is included with the purchase of a Preview or Show ticket. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. This year’s Public Program will feature the following four sessions:

The Photobook Today — A Discussion of the Evolving Medium: New technologies and new media have produced an astounding flourish of photobook creativity. The old model of books that are collections of images competes with books that are authorial works cover to cover. How can we best nurture the ecology of these two types of publications?

Artists Working Today: A discussion with artists who are stretching the boundaries of photography in transformative ways.

The Art of Photography on the Internet – Social Media & Blogs: From social media to blogs, a discussion about how the internet is shaping the look of photography.

Collecting 101: As the photography art world grows exponentially, so do the challenges for both emerging and established collectors.

The Association of International Photography Art Dealers encourages public support of fine art photography by acting as a collective voice for the dealers in fine art photography and through communication and education that enhances the confidence of the public, museums, institutions and others in responsible fine art photography dealers.

The Association of International Photography Art Dealers [AIPAD] was organized in 1979. With members in the United States, Australia, Canada, Europe and Japan, the Association has become a unifying force in the field of photography. AIPAD is dedicated to creating and maintaining high standards in the business of exhibiting, buying and selling photographs as art.

Acting as the collective voice of the art photography dealers that make up its membership, AIPAD maintains ethical standards, promotes communication within the photographic community, encourages public appreciation of photography as art, concerns itself with the rights of photographers and collectors, and works to enhance the confidence of the public in responsible photography. AIPAD members provide a wide range of services to the public, such as exhibitions, appraisals, expert opinions and consultations.

AIPAD Members have agreed to a Code of Ethics: Members agree to conduct dealings with the public, museums, artists and other dealers with honesty and integrity. Members agree to provide accurate descriptions of photographs in all disclosures, including but not limited to, invoices, wall labels and price lists.
