Nothing is quite as iconic during the holiday season as an Ugly Sweater. Maybe you bought it on purpose. Maybe your Great-Aunt Marge gave it to you when you were in college. However you came by it, you know you have one — wear it loud and wear it proud! Here’s your chance to take it for a run. After all, even Ugly Sweaters need to get out in the fresh air and visit with their bretheren. Join other Ugly Sweater owners and run the best holiday 5K of the season!
Rummage up the Ugliest Sweaters you can find and celebrate the holidays by participating in the best 5k of the year. Join thousands of runners and walkers from around the nation at the Ugly Sweater Run on December 20 at Citi Field. If you’ve never run a 5k before, this is a great way to burn some calories before receiving hot chocolate and a choice of Sam Adam’s Winter Lager, Boston Lager, or Angry Orchard Hard Cider during the event. All you have to do is register online to join in the fun.
The run is approximately 3.1 miles long on New York City streets and parks. The start line will have huge inflatables, photo stations, and awesome holiday music. Once you’re on the course, you’ll find holiday themed stations at every mile. You can ditch that Gatorade because you’ll be able to replenish those electrolytes at the good ol’ fashioned hot chocolate station on the course.
After you’ve completed your run, head to the post run festivities. This holiday 5k has everything your five-year old self would want with a few perks of adulthood. After the race, take a much-deserved break from the shopping frenzy and celebrate your run with a cold Sam Adams beer and other holiday goodies. Awards for best real mustache, best fake mustache, best beard, worst sweater, best sweater will follow the race.
The Ugly Sweater Run has partnered with Save the Children, a child advocacy nonprofit that gives children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn, and protection from harm in the US and around the world. RACE RULES — According to the official rules outlined on the website: “Ummm…we recommend wearing an Ugly Sweater and show up ready to party with your friends at the coolest run in the country. You must bring your ID and be of age to consume adult beverages. That’s it for the rule section.”
Solo Runner/Walker: $50 Early Registration. $55 starting Nov. 22. $60 day of registration, if available.
4+ Person Ugly Sweater Teams: $45 per person Early Registration. $50 per person starting Nov. 22. $55 per person day of registration, if available.

DOES IT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS? Yes. It does. Each Ugly Sweater runner receives a custom vintage knit hat, a drawstring bag, unlimited hot chocolate, and one Winter Lager, Boston Lager, or Angry Orchard hard cider (if you’re of age of course!). A closed course full of hot chocolate aide stations, snow blowers, and the biggest Santa inflatable around will await you. Make sure to enter the ugly sweater contests to win great prizes.
