Mark Your Calendar for Bronx Week 2016

Now in it’s 45th year, Bronx Week 2016 promises to be an amazing celebration of everything that makes this borough great.

Everyone is invited to this year’s celebration, which will take place from May 5 through May 15, and will feature community events, festivities, and fun in every corner of the Bronx.

The Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (BOEDC) and the Bronx Tourism Council have put together some great events for Bronx Week that the whole community can take part in and enjoy, including historical tours of the borough’s neighborhoods.

Also in the lineup are some events that have been enormously popular in previous years. These include:

Centenarian Celebration: The 6th Annual Bronx Week Centenarian event takes the time to honor the longevity of area role models and the ones who have paved the way for current residents. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. celebrates Bronxites that have lived nearly a century. Thursday, May 5th, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. $35

The 18th Annual Bronx Bankers’ Breakfast: Keynote Speaker Hon. Kathy Hocul, Lt. Governor of New York State, will address the business and financial industry on the micro and macro implications of economic development in The Bronx and how it impacts the rest of the State of New York. Over 400 financial leaders, business owners, real estate brokers, accountants, attorneys, and technical assistance providers will come together to meet lenders actively working on behalf of businesses and aquire information on BICNY’s 504 Loan Program. Next, you’ll dine under the trees next to the casita at El Coqui Community Garden. Last, but not least, you’ll have a chance to visit the gardeners and chickens at Taqwa Community Farm. You will have the option to leave by walking across the scenic and recently restored Highbridge, back to Manhattan. Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. $30.

Family and Senior Day: Welcome to Bronx Week Senior Day. This event honors Senior Advisory Board Members who have dedicated their time by volunteering five days a week at their local Neighborhood Senior Center. Thursday, May 12th, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Health Day: “I am #not62,” is a day of celebration of total mind and body wellness.
